Adenomyosis is a condition that occurs when the cells that line the uterus grow into the muscular tissue of the uterine wall. The uterine wall becomes thicker, which can cause pain. The uterus may also enlarge.
During this procedure, a board-certified interventional radiologist uses minimally invasive techniques to block the blood supply to the uterus. In the case of adenomyosis, the blocked blood vessels displace the tissue causing adenomyosis.
