Microphlebectomy is a procedure that requires no stitches, leaves minimal to no scarring and delivers excellent results.
Fairfax Vascular Center physicians use a tiny hook-like microphlebectomy instrument to painlessly remove the varicose veins. The procedure is typically done under local anesthesia while the physician makes tiny nicks in the skin. The tiny nicks do not require sutures and are instead closed with tape. General anesthesia is not used in this procedure, but a sedative may be offered to help you relax. After the procedure is complete, the leg that received treatment will be wrapped in a thin dressing and a compression stocking.
