This is a condition resulting in wear and tear of your shoulder’s rotator cuff. This can present as a new or long-standing injury and often results in limited painful motion. Certain types of tears and injuries can be readily treated with TAME with good results. Request a consultation.
These are chronic overuse injuries of the tendon that connect the muscles of the forearm to the inner and outer sides of the elbow. While they are often seen in sports like tennis and golf, they can also be seen with occupational overuse and other sports injuries. Steroids and NSAIDs are helpful in the short-term, but there are few good long-term therapies. TAME can help with reducing inflammation and return of normal function to elbow. Request a consultation.
This is a common area of pain involving the issues running from the heel to the foot. This condition can resolve with simple measures (medications and steroids) and time. On occasion it can progress to a chronic condition as a result of continued inflammation, making it debilitating in some cases. Transarterial muscuoloskeletal embolization (TAME) provides an effective, noninvasive method to alleviate these symptoms and return you to a normal quality of life. Request a Consultation
Arthritis of the finger joints is a common issue that typically does not improve as we age. It is estimated that up to 40% of people may develop hand osteoarthritis in at least one hand. In difficult cases, this can result in pain, stiffness, swelling and limited movement. In certain settings it can limit occupations as well. Medicine is the mainstay of treatment, when symptoms are not controlled, surgery is the next option in select cases. TAME is a new treatment that has demonstrated significant improvement in hand arthritis symptoms in the short and long term. Request a Consultation
Transarterial Musculoskeletal Embolization (TAME) is a new and exciting procedure aimed at treating common inflammatory conditions of joints and tendons. These include chronic (long-standing) injuries, over-use injuries, sports injuries and post-surgical inflammation that does not resolve.
Inflammation in joints and tendons initially occurs as a response to injury. The point of inflammation is to begin the process of repair. However, in chronic injuries the area never heals itself completely, such as an arthritic joint, or an overuse tendon injury and the inflammation never resolves. As a result of continued injury, the inflammation gets worse, the pain gets worse, and more medication is required for better control.
Most therapies today are aimed at reducing inflammation or repairing/replacing the portion of the joint that’s the problem. This is why people get steroid injections or often use NSAIDS such as Motrin (ibuprofen) or even stronger based medications to gain better control of their discomfort.
